Rusell Buckley sees a Bluetooth File Sharing Tsunami coming - taking away the Music Industry’s last shelter. Yes, Bluetooth operates absolutely locally and thus is untrackable by any server. Right?
But even if it gets very popular, I don’t see any tsunami coming. Because it lacks the network effects of peer-to-peer systems (unless there is special BT file-sharing application which the music industry would try hard to impede - remember: mobile phones are not the universal machines that PCs are). So you’ll only share files one-to-one which isn’t the most effective way of distribution.
So I don’t see Bluetooth file sharing really taking off. Or do I miss something?
